6 Pubs, 120 Walkers and £1,128 Raised

This week we’d like to celebrate one of our amazing fundraisers, Scott. A dedicated runner from Plymouth, Scott has completed 59 marathons, including all eight World Majors. He’s raised thousands of pounds for charity through his years as a dedicated runner and fundraiser, and this November, Scott is putting on his running shoes once again and completing his 60th marathon with Athens Marathon in support of BRACE. Scott’s personal connection with dementia is what urged him to support BRACE, his dad is living with dementia, and Scott has been rocked by the impact this has had on him and his family. Scott said ‘watching my dad’s struggle with dementia, and seeing him no longer able to speak or act the way that he used to has been very painful. But raising money for BRACE gives me hope that, one day, other people’s dads may be saved’.   

From selling second-hand items on vinted to holding car boot sales with items donated from his local community, Scott has turned his passion for running into something much bigger. Since setting up his own running club ten years ago, Scott has held an annual Charity Pub Walk to raise funds for different charities who he is running for. Participants walk to a total of 6 pubs, having a drink at each in exchange for a stamp, and at the final pub, they are awarded their finishers medal. Each medal is custom designed and themed around the charity he’s supporting, with this years medal themed around Cape Town and featuring the ‘forget me not’ dementia flower.
