Why We Fight

Dear Reader

We know that the stories shared here may feel painfully familiar.

Whether it’s a grandparent, parent, sibling, friend, or the fear of what the future may hold for our children and grandchildren, this condition spares few of us.

But there is hope. Recently, we’ve seen real progress in dementia research.

In 2024, the first Alzheimer’s drugs that actually treat the disease were licensed for use in the UK.

This is a huge step forward. I am hopeful that this could be the beginning of more breakthroughs in dementia treatment.

This year, BRACE is funding 24 vital research projects, searching for more answers.

This is only thanks to people like you. As a BRACE supporter, you are at the heart of this progress. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

But we were unable to fund 39 other projects.

Every project we cannot fund is an opportunity lost to further progress in the fight against dementia. The reality is clear: without more investment, research will stall. We cannot let that happen.

I promise that every donation you give will be:
• Appreciated – Because every gift, large or small, helps move research forward.
• Used Wisely – Funding only the most promising, innovative and high impact research.
• Life-Changing – Bringing us closer to new treatments and, one day, a cure.

We fight for Ann, Paul, Colin, Sue, Anne, and the millions of others affected - past, present, and future.

BRACE has been in this fight since 1987, contributing more than £12
million to dementia research. We have funded the PhDs of more than 50 new dementia researchers and more than 140 different research projects, leading to discoveries and breakthroughs in the potential causes, diagnosis and treatment of dementia. We are closer to a cure than ever before.

Will you join us and help us win the fight?

Please consider making a gift today to help us continue funding vital
research.

With best wishes,

Chris Williams
