A Weston-Super-Mare department store has asked customers to help support dementia research in 2017. Staff at Walker & Ling have chosen BRACE as the firm's charity of the year.

Walker & Ling store principal Sam Walker said staff were keen to support BRACE in the year ahead.

He said, “We chose BRACE because it is a local charity doing vital research into an issue that effects us all. We looked at a number of different charities for this year, and BRACE received overwhelming support from staff and customers. Dementia is a hot topic in the media at the moment and charities like BRACE are right on the front line researching ways to improve the lives of those suffering; I know that our contribution, though small, is going straight into fighting that battle.”

BRACE Chief Executive Mark Poarch thanked staff at Walker & Ling for their support. He said, “It’s wonderful that in our 30th year we are continuing to get so much support from local businesses such as Walker & Ling. I want to pass on a huge thank you to Sam and all of his team for their kind support. I would urge customers to dig deep and help us in our fight against dementia. Together we can defeat this terrible illness.”
