Luckily I, or my family, haven't been directly affected by dementia however I know several people that have. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, a collection of symptoms associated with a decline in brain function, including memory loss, impaired judgement, language and becoming generally less ‘sharp’ mentally. It's a truly horrible illness that can be as painful for those without the disease, as much as those that have Alzheimers. More than 225,000 people are expected to be diagnosed with some form of dementia in the UK this year alone, and the number is set to grow with the UK’s ageing population. I'm running the Oxford Half Marathon to help raise money to beat Alzheimers and Dementia. Please sponsor me to help make a difference.
