My Mother had Dementia for over ten years, which slowly robbed us of the person we knew.

We started noticing changes in Mum when she was 80 small things at first. Giving away her baking tins, forgetting to cook parts of the dinner. Gradually her condition worsened stopping her reading, a lifelong passion. She moved to an Abbeyfield and then a Dementia secure care home. She became less mobile and more dependent on the care. She knew who I was but the relationship changed to cousin or someone from her youth. In her more lucid moments she would say"It's about time I kicked the bucket".
She died last year at the age of 90.

On Sunday 22nd of April I am running the Southampton Marathon in memory of Mum and to support BRACE's important work.

Thank you.
