I'm raising money and awareness about dementia. My dad Bernard had this cruel disease. I was heartbroken when he died two years ago. Now my husband John has been diagnosed with early signs, a crushing blow. I want to respond in a positive way. As a marathon runner, I've clocked up 1,300 charity race miles, and done self--organised walks of 630 and 460 miles. Being a carer I can't commit to long distance or days away from home, so my "Any Mile is Better" challenge, is 10 half marathons, spread across four weeks. It fits around my life and doing something feels better than doing nothing. The research work of BRACE is vital to finding a cure. You can donate directly to BRACE on this page. I'm also supporting the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, a mainly voluntary run organisation working to make a difference for people living with dementia and their families, for which I have a separate Justgiving page.
