A big 'thank you' to the Newsawards and their sponsors Fujifilm for supporting BRACE at the 2017 event.

The prestigious event, in its 21st year, was held in April at the Lancaster Hotel in London and was attended by 500 executives from the world of news publishing and printing.

BRACE Ambassador and former news presenter Sir Martyn Lewis represented BRACE and made an appeal on behalf of the charity. The result was over £5,300 in donations and pledges, a total which is expected to approach £6,500 when Gift Aid is added to qualifying donations.

BRACE Chief Executive Mark Poarch, who was presented with the cheque at Fujifilm's Bedford headquarters yesterday, said, "This is brilliant support from Newswards and Fujifilm, and we were honoured to be chosen as the charity for the evening. The money arrives ahead of another major round of research applications, and will help us to fund more of the urgently needed research than would otherwise be possible. We are also very grateful to Sir Martyn Lewis for being the perfect representative for us on an occasion like this."
