This is our fourth annual conference, and we have again chosen the title #Together4Dementia.

We have kept this name because it expresses simply what the conference aims to achieve. It is a forum in which people from across our communities who care about dementia come together to share knowledge, experience and ideas. Over 200 people will be there, including people who are themselves living with dementia, as well as scientists, doctors, lawyers, health and social care professionals, business people, charity staff and care managers.

The presentations, panel discussion, stands and open networking will enable everyone to make new contacts and share knowledge.

We are again delighted to welcome BRACE ambassador and former BBC and ITN news presenter Sir Martyn Lewis as our chairman for the day.

The morning session will comprise a series of short talks, followed by an interview and 'Question Time' after lunch. The morning's presentations will be:

  • Prof Myra Conway, UWE on the science of dementia
  • Kevin Goodenough, G2 Architects on designing care homes and other accommodation for people with dementia
  • Subitha Baghirathan, UWE on the recent report into dementia in ethnic minority communities
  • Dr Judy Haworth, North Bristol NHS Trust on why some people develop dementia while others don't

The interview after lunch will be with Norman McNamara, co-founder of the remarkable Purple Angel campaign, about how this initiative has gone global in just a few years.

For the final session, the panellists will be:

  • Winsome Barrett-Muir (South Gloucestershire DAA)
  • Prof Richard Cheston (Professor of Mental Health Research (dementia), University of the West of England)
  • Jayne Connery (Care Protect)
  • Rachel Thompson (Admiral Nurses/Dementia UK)
  • Prof Gordon Wilcock (Emeritus Professor of Geratology, University of Oxford)

The conference, which includes tea and coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch, is free to all.

If you want to come by car, there is a £2 charge to book parking in the Cabot Circus multi-storey. It would normally cost about £18 to park for this period, so we strongly recommend booking through us now if you need to travel by car.

Please choose the correct option below, depending on your transport needs.

For lunch, there will be vegetarian and vegan sandwiches available, as well as meat and fish. Please let us know when booking if you have any allergies that we need to cater for.

This event is now fully booked. However, we might receive some late cancellations, and we would ask you to contact Mark Poarch if you wish to be added to the waiting list.

Thank you.
