David Pockney

We are all very sorry to hear that David Pockney has passed away. David, and Ann, were loyal supporters of BRACE from the beginning. David made important contributions from both a legal and a personal perspective.

We were very fortunate to have his help and advice about many legal matters, such as when we were establishing BRACE as a registered charity, which was far more complex than many of us had expected. This included making a major contribution to the terms of our relationship with the University. He always knew when to seek the advice of others, and was able to obtain this when needed from colleagues with whom he had worked. When David agreed to take something on we all knew we could rely on him completely, however complicated the matter involved.

David was also a Trustee of BRACE and a regular attendee at meetings. His contributions were always offered after careful consideration of the issues, and we learnt to respect his advice.

David was also a delightful person to know at a personal level. It was always a pleasure to be with him at BRACE meetings and functions, of which he and Ann were regular and loyal supporters. He had a natural talent for relating to others which contributed to both our respect for him, and the fondness we all felt for him, and which will form an important part of our memories of him in the future.

David will be sadly missed, and we offer our condolences to Ann and his family.
