New BRACE logo
Bristol-based Alzheimer’s charity BRACE has a new logo. It has cost the charity nothing, because the design was donated by a generous supporter.
MAMMALcreate director Lesley Hill approached BRACE because she wanted her company to help a charity that was fighting back against Alzheimer’s.
Lesley said, “I was aware of BRACE as a local charity, but really came across the organisation when my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and attended the clinic at Blackberry Hill Hospital. He moved into a nursing home last May as my grandmother was struggling to cope with his increasing needs, a decision she was very reluctant to make despite the toll on her health. He is receiving excellent care and has settled in to his new home very happily. My grandparents were a very happy couple, enjoying an active retirement together until Alzheimer’s intervened.
“The thing that bowled me over about BRACE as I found out more about them was the quality of the research that they fund, truly ground breaking stuff which hadn’t been apparent from my first impression.”
Using her skills as a designer who has worked for the BBC, among others, Lesley offered to redesign the BRACE logo to help get its message across more strongly.
BRACE Chief Executive Mark Poarch said, “The offer from Lesley Hill and MAMMALcreate was a great help to us at a crucial time. The old logo and style had served BRACE well over two decades, but we knew that our message was in danger of getting lost among all the other causes clamouring for public attention.
“Our new logo is faithful to BRACE’s Bristol roots, but also represents the fact that we have broken out to become an important regional charity. More important still, it conveys the energy, urgency and hope that underlie our work supporting scientists at the international forefront of the fight against Alzheimer’s.”
