Coffee in a Flower Arrangers' Garden
In an English Country Garden..
With due acknowledgement to the popular 60's song, there were numerous plants in an English country garden on Saturday May 2nd.
Once again, Bob and Pat South opened up their superb garden in Backwell to raise funds for charity and BRACE was the main beneficiary. For a nominal fee, people were able to gain entry and browse the vast array of garden plants in the marquee on the neatly manicured front lawn.
Moving into the rear garden (and collecting a cup of tea and cake on the way) the eyes were met by a garden that would be the envy of most people. Once the visitors were inside there was a large selection of items available to purchase helping to swell the coffers. From bric-a-brac, books, a wonderful selection of home made cakes, tombola and raffle every visitor managed to leave with their hands full.
Adding to this was the BRACE stall with a wide range of items which did a brisk business throughout the opening hours. For the Brace volunteers and all Pat and Bob's family and friends helping in this event the weather and generous nature of the people attending made the day truly memorable and worthwhile.
Thanks to the generosity of Bob and Pat, their family, friends and neighbours, a magnificent total of £1450 was raised of which BRACE benefited to the sum of £1250.
Bob and Pat would like to add their thanks to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle, baked cakes and helped out on the day - too numerous to mention but you all have the gratitude of BRACE for your part in this successful day.
